In a desperate attempt to keep all the illegal migrants invading New York City far away from rich and powerful Manhattanites, Mayor Eric Adams is setting up a migrant tent city on Randall’s Island near Riker’s Island that reports indicate will be able to house 2,000 illegals.
The move came a week after a proposal emerged to house migrants right smack dab in Central Park, which wealthy, far-left New York said no way to, which then prompted Adams to propose sending them off to a nearby island in the middle of Manhattan’s East River.
“As the number of asylum seekers in our care continues to grow by hundreds every day, stretching our system to its breaking point and beyond, it has become more and more of a Herculean effort to find enough beds every night,” Adams complained about the invasion.
Keep in mind that Adams was previously a loud and proud supporter of illegal immigration, echoing common far-left tropes about how “no human is illegal” and the virtue signaling “we welcome our foreign neighbors” yard signs seen all throughout America’s posh neighborhoods.
It turns out that people flush with cash and high standing in society do not want illegal aliens anywhere near their properties, parks, stores, and daily lives. So, Adams is proposing sending them off to an island prison, of sorts, similar to Alcatraz.

The Big Apple has been struggling for a while with what to do with all the illegals that are pouring into the city day in and day out due to America’s open borders policies.
Leftist have been pushing for open borders for years, so it was simply assumed that New York City, a far-left enclave, would be more than willing to house as many of them as flood across the border unabated. It turns out even the bleeding hearts do not want to deal with illegal immigration once it hits their own backyards.
For a while, New York City was trying to jam-pack as many illegals as possible into hotels, and even went so far as to ask city residents to house one or two, or 10, in their own spare bedrooms.
Once that was tapped out, Adams resorted to pushing for the Riker’s Island concept, which would keep the illegals cordoned off and surrounded by water so they do not bother the New York City elite.
Thus far in 2023, some 57,000 new illegal migrants have flooded into New York City. This means that the Riker’s Island concept will only provide refuge for less than four percent of these people – and 2023 is only halfway over, which means many more illegals will continue to flood into the Big Apple in the days to come.
In the comments on a story about all this, someone noted that all this illegal migration is taking a toll not only on the U.S. but also the Central and South American countries from which these invaders hail.
“Currently, many South American countries are in crisis due to their core populations moving to the U.S.,” this person wrote.
“Also, natives of every land deserve a stable environment. We should exchange travel with people in other lands, for the enjoyment of differing cultures and environments. However, as a rule, immigration causes negative consequence on both ends, and when in extreme, as currently, a humanitarian crisis.”
