Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi is calling on all BRICS member nations – there are now 11 of them – to officially designate the Israeli government and its military apparatus as terrorist organizations.
Citing alleged war crimes in Gaza, Raisi submitted a request to the group’s online Extraordinary Joint Meeting on the Middle East Situation in Gaza, asking everyone involved to use their influence to break Israel’s “siege” of Gaza and insure that humanitarian aid can be safely delivered to embattled Palestinian civilians.
“It is necessary that this fake regime be recognized as a terrorist regime and its army be regarded as a terrorist organization,” Raisi said, adding that all BRICS members need to recognize that the Palestinian state has a right to self-defense while cutting all ties with West Jerusalem.
“With regards to the constant crimes [committed] by and the racist nature of the fake Israeli regime, free nations [of the world] expect all governments, especially BRICS members, to immediately put the issue of the severance of political, economic and military ties with the regime high on the agenda,” he added.

With the support of South Africa, a prominent BRICS member, Iran, Raisi added, has filed along with four other countries in the International Criminal Court (ICC) the launch of an investigation into Israel’s alleged war crimes in Gaza.
These war crimes include allegations that Israel has been using white phosphorus and other illegal weaponry on the Palestinians in violation of international law. The filing also seeks to hold the United States responsible for Israel’s murder of children in Gaza.
As of this writing, at least 13,500 Palestinians have died in Gaza at the hands of Israel since October 7 when Hamas was blamed for around 1,200 deaths in Israel. Many of those 1,200 deaths have since been discovered to have been caused by Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
At least 5,600 Palestinian children are now dead since October 7 because of Israel, while 6,000 additional residents are still missing and possibly dead. After October 7, Israel stopped all resources, i.e., food, water, electricity, and fuel, from being supplied to Gaza.
The original BRICS five – Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa – along with the six new incomers – Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) – attended a virtual summit about all this that was hosted by South Africa.
All attendees are expected to publish a joint declaration regarding the conflict in the coming days, though South African President Cyril Ramaphosa indicated that diplomats have not yet had time to draft it. Instead, most member countries have opted to release their own individual statements, most of them calling for some kind of ceasefire in the conflict.
“The day the U.S. is destroyed and this man-made Israel removed from earth will be the beginning of change,” one commenter wrote about the matter.
“Looking at a map of Israel, it becomes apparent that Gaza would be a plum if only Israel could push the Gazans into the Mediterranean,” wrote another. “Given the ruins that have been made of (much of?) Gaza, it may be ripe for new Israeli settlements.”
“The UN is a dog ignoring war crimes for its American puppets on command – good for thee but not for me,” wrote another. “BRICS might have some relevancy in creating world peace with some real teeth.”
